Camper and car hauler combo

Came across this on Facebook. $29k USD. Price seems very high to me, but I have not done the math.

What I think might be the biggest issue is the weight over the rear axles of the truck.

It should be a cakewalk for your 350. Seeing as the camper usually goes in the bed and with that setup the weight is being carried by the truck and trailer.

Doesn't look like you'd fit a car on there, but if you could I would almost worry about the hitch being too light.

Would also make sure and check any campsites before showing up with it. Some of them won't let homebrew setups like that stay there.

you could probably get a Chevy Spark Nissan Versa sized car on that trailer

but why tow a car with you if you have a pickup truck?
they probably brought a few quads with them and went 4 wheeling.

I was thinking that or a hunting setup. Camper and a side-by-side or the likes.

We call those redneck toyhaulers :ROFLMAO: They usually don't look that nice.

What are you thinking about GON? These slide-in campers really don't have much room at all. And that looks like a bugger to get the camper off if you want to use the trailer.

I've seen that Ram story before.. but you look at that camper and all the weight way back past the rear bumper and consider the
torsional forces that something like that could load into the center of a truck frame. ( the CAMPER tie's down right at the front of the bed) and just think they were asking for it.. really no different than any other overload..

these stories have also been around and it is worth pointing out Ford has completely redesigned their trucks but there are probably a million of those older Fords on the road still

Thanks for posting, interesting. Wish the video producer would have redone the audio, I could not understand a lot of the discussion.

MSCH, the videos you posted sparked me to do some searching. Here is a comparison of open C channel vs box channel HD pickup frames:

Gon, my opinion is no matter which of these brands is in use, somebody is going to point out flaws, real or imagined.. sort of like motor oil on the other forum..
I said it previously, Ford has since redesigned that truck chassis since the video was produced, so whatever inherent weakness there was is probably gone.

One other thing, you seem to be a fan of auction sights but I'd be willing to bet you will eventually find a RV you want at a better price and it will not be on an auction website..
