Any significant concerns using a sleeve in a 3" receiver for a 2.5" tow hitch?

2017+ Ford Super Dutys with dual rear wheels come with a 3" tow receiver, instead of the very common 2.5" tow receiver. 3" tow hitches are harder to come by, and can be pricey. Sleeves are available to use 2.5" tow hitches in 3" receivers. Any significant downside to using the sleeve? I know...

Never seize or grease in the tow receiver for pull behind rigs?

Always a question in my mind, should never seize or grease be put in the tow receiver to protect the receiver from corrosion when not in use? If someone was to keep their tow hitch in the receiver year round, I would go with never seize without question. But if someone is pulling out and...

Park your RV under olive trees in Corning California- Corning RV Park

Driving south on I5 in Northern California, in a area of a lot of olive groves. I look to my right and see a RV park that the parking spots put the RVs under/ text to olive trees. How cool is that. I suspect this is not a destination park. But for a overnight-er right on the interstate, a nice...

Surely photo shopped- but eye catching

This photo is fake, but still reminds me of RVs being towed in the Northern Utah area. I steered clear when I saw setups like this. In Utah, it was typically a truck, RV, and then boat. Going through grade and curves. Must work, but more than I can comprehend.

Thoughts on why some wheels in dual axle configurations get significantly dirtier than the other wheels?

Recently I have been seeing a pattern of one wheel significantly dirtier than the other on dual axle trailers. Seems primarily the front left, but I have also seen the rear right. Just a fluke- or is there a reason?

any of you ever been to Big Bend National Park?

Yes, stunningly beautiful area. Parts of the Rio Grande River running along the boarder of the park bring pockets of a green oasis to the parched terrain. One must find beauty in parched terrain to enjoy the area.

Looking for comments/ recommendations on towing a enclosed 32' triple axle trailer

The auction just went from $7600 USD to over $11,000. Appears a bidder from MO wants this bad. I set my alarm clock, I like this trailer and it matches certain needs. When wake up I am prepared to go to $15,600 USD. Shame as I think just one or two bidders will take this trailer from a 9-15k...

Interesting article that breaks down by states requirements if a CDL is required to drive a RV through the state

The video is stating a Class A license (non CDL) is needed for towing a RV of a certain length and/ or weight, not a CDL. Interesting twist, as it appears it may be a challenge getting a non CDL class A license issued. I was not aware a class A license were still being issued after CDLs became...

Interesting article that breaks down by states requirements if a CDL is required to drive a RV through the state

Neat video by a RVer on getting a NON CDL class A license (Kansas). Long video, but think knowing the information may have benefits.

Looking for comments/ recommendations on towing a enclosed 32' triple axle trailer

A BITOG member sent me this trailer that goes to auction tomorrow. I can't post the pictures but here is a link to the trailer: https://www.schneiderauctioneers.com/auctions/30319/lot/12447-2007-atc-32-enclosed-cargo-trailer I am going through a change of life (how weird is that) and may need a...

Towing a small trailer in a 40MPH headwind

This Wells Cargo salvage with front end damage went to auction in Denver this morning. I suspect the winning bid with fees is about $4400 out the door. And of course, all the time and money to repair, make road worthy, and convert the title to rebuilt.

Towing a small trailer in a 40MPH headwind

This 2017 Doolittle with a salvage title (not rebuilt title) sold on 17 MAR 2024 in Sioux Falls SD at auction for $3600 including fees. Of course, one has to do the work and invest the time to convert the title to rebuilt, so the trailer can be registered. And there is cost involved, and a lot...

Towing a small trailer in a 40MPH headwind

Wayne, that trailer is very clean and looks well cared for and not exposed to salt. Not that it matters, but if you were to sell that trailer in the greater Denver area i suspect it would sell for well north of $4k USD.

RV storage lot rental- a few comments

Hard to tell. No sure where my next job will be. Tough time being a "kouchis" (Afghanistan name for a nomad). Next time I will be where these vehicles are (Arizona) likely first week in May. About to turn 60 years of age, and don't have a location to live identified. We rented a home in Arizona...

RV storage lot rental- a few comments

Not at this time.... any recommendations? I am very fluent at rodent control, but this environment poses challenges I can't quite solve. We owned a home on a bit of marshy land and bordering a very small lake. Had mice for years regardless of what I did. The solution was a massive amount of rat...

    TT gooseneck adapter hitch, why?

I always like the gooseneck/ fifth wheel over bumper pull because of the elimination of weight distribution hitch/ sway bars that are often a need for a enclosed bumper pull trailer. Recently I was in New Mexico on a very windy day and saw the bumper pulled trailers at what I suspect a much...

RV storage lot rental- a few comments

Rented a RV storage space in Arizona yesterday. The storage landlord appeared to be a larger, well processed organization. The organization had vacancies, which was something I was surprised to find. The hours were 6am-10pm to enter the lot, instead of the typical 24 hours access. I sense...
