About one mile south of the Barrow Gang shootout site is a roadside plaque and plow on display commemorating the 1948 soil conservation and plowing days. Then President Harry Truman attended and according to the story on the plaque, was quite interested in the event.

As a farm kid I found this to be an interesting piece of history and a bit of an oxymoron. Soil conservation and a moldboard plow today can't be used in the sentence. The moldboard plow is responsible for more soil erosion than practically any other method of tillage. Most plows have been melted down and made into more useful things. It's rare to see one in use.
