Stay Dates - August 26-28, 2022
Site#: 53
Site Type: Back In / Gravel
Full Hookups: Yes
Wifi - Don't recall
Would Stay Again?: No (We don't like 'parkinglot parks')

A fairly new park (at the time we stayed) Waterside appears to be largely private owned sites that are then rented out by the developers. Some sites are more improved than others, although I suspect that most of them are probably paved now. There are also sites with hot tubs, however those tend to be a bit pricey for our tastes.

The wife and I have come to refer to these types of parks as 'parkinglot parks', where they either build an RV park in the middle of a field, or mow down all the trees to make a park. Either way, we've discovered since staying at this park in 2022 that we really prefer a more 'natural' park.

They do have a community pool, although the hours of operation are fairly short, and they close it down at the hint of a storm, so we pretty much missed using it.

Yeah, that's a parking lot park. Good for overnights or short stays, but not for more than a couple days, unless there is a super-duper attraction nearby.

I don't mind a parkinglot park "if" I am just staying there for a day or two when I am seeing the sites... in other words I am just sleeping there so I dont care.. kinda why I didn't mind Loves, its just overnight...

but after spending the last month out west, I did discover I have a predeliction for trees and some shade.. :)

So, we decided that since there were hot tubs available and that we wanted a do nothing weekend with our friends, we booked a couple of sites at WSBR and included a hot-tub in the mix this time.

Site #114 - Hot Tub and #115

These were both massive concrete pads with plenty of room, nice hookups and the hot tub was the perfect getaway for the weekend, although the chlorine level was a bit high, but better that than some disease.

Our friend with the white Dodge next to us. That is a 33' trailer, with her quad cab sitting there and there's a ton of room left over. The site swallows our 29 footer and Ranger whole.

One minor annoyance. Whoever installed the 30a outlet in the box, somehow managed to install it 'upside down'. I've never run across one like that and the weight of the surge suppressor would have probably pulled the connector out, so I just used the 50a plug which was in the correct way.

There's a little outdoor fireplace you can't see because of the blowing curtains. Works well to heat that area when you get a good fire going.

I've seen an upside-down 50 amp plug one time and it's super annoying. I'm not sure how anyone thinks that's ok. We have the exact hot tub, just the two person version. We use it almost every night including winter. Our limit is about 15°F. One time it was snowing so hard that we didn't want to get out. By the time we exited, we stepped out into about 6" of new snow. That's a bit cold on the feet.

Yep, it was a total WTH moment for me. I plugged my suppressor in and immediately thought 'nope' and went to get my 50a dogbone to see if that one was right-way-round.

I suppose I should email them about it. Doubt anyone will do anything. People that own the site likely are 50a'ers so the 30 is only there for rentals.
