Tool Review: Chinese Electric Scissor Jack

After finding out my little bottle jack wouldn't fit under the axle with a deflated tire, I decided to pick up an electric scissor jack, which would be a little flatter and fit under the axle. Plus, it would be faster. There's about 100 different choices on Amazon for this type jack, I figure they're pretty much all the same, so I picked up this one on sale for a little less than $50 shipped. I have no delusion that this thing will last forever, but if it saves me some time on the side of the road at least once, it will be worth it in my opinion.

What to say about it.

#1, the cord isn't long enough, but not a problem for me since I already have an extension cord for my tire pump.

Other than that, there's not much to say. it worked, lifted one axle at a time enough to put on jack stands.

Thanks for the review. Good stuff.

Watching a video connected to Wayne's bearing repack, the axle manufacturer specified using the trailer frame as a jack point, not the axle. This was something I wasn't aware of, but reflecting a few moments, made some sense.

I think that's because they really don't want you lifting by the axle tube. Most of us just lift by the shackle mount. Takes a mighty tall jack to jack the thing up by the frame and get the wheels off the ground.

at a certain point in life, you realize the f*&kwit that wrote the service direction has never changed a tire in the field because you can't do it the recommended way in the field.. you also realize if the axle doesn't bend while supporting the weight of the trailer at the spring mount or u bolts, it surely won't bend if you jacked on the same point..
