Sewer waste valves

How often do you change these out.. if ever? I'm about to change ours out again since we've had a couple issues this year. I'm debating though since I think it's just junk that builds up, usually I can open and reopen a few times and it's ok for a while. I replaced both 5-6 years ago. Terrible to replace those things!
 
I never replaced ours in the 8 years we had our camper. I did replace the t-handle because it got hit and broken. I would spray the rod occasionally with silicone lube to keep it free.

I always flushed the tanks to keep the debris out.

There is a flush on the black tank, just got one for the gray tank today. Don't know maybe it's the gravel roads.
