exactly... kind of the same explanation why they offer extended warranties on all sorts of products.
still remember last time I bought tires the sales guy literally begging me to buy the road hazard protection which supposedly covers just about anything except wearing out... implying I was foolish for turning down such a great offer. :)

When I explained to him that I have purchased over 100 tires in my lifetime( probably closer to 200) and only had maybe 2 tire failures that would possibly be covered by the warranty and could he explain how buying a warranty of 40 dollar per tire ( 240 dollars for a dual wheeled truck) to cover a 200 dollar tire made financial sense, he gave up. :)
