We were eastbound on I-80 just about to cross from Illinois into Indiana when we hit the most massive pothole I've ever seen. The concrete had completely failed, so the state filled the hole with asphalt patch, but must not have packed it properly. The asphalt just squished out from under the tires, leaving two very deep ruts, so deep that those unfortunate enough to be in that lane, were driving on rebar. Seriously. How the state of IL can leave this lane open is beyond me, as the lane is clearly a safety hazard.
