I found this little guy trying to get in the house

One of the larger examples of a Mantis I've seen. He hung around the front door for a couple days. Quite interesting to see up close.

I almost never saw them growing up in Iowa, but see them frequently here in IL

It has been a few years now, but one morning I went out to wash my car and right next to the hose outlet there were a pile of little baby PM's. The pictures don't really show it since I had to get so close, but there were probably 20 of the little buggers hanging out on the wall.

Cool bug, but to me they're a bit creepy.

...as long as I can admire them from a distance.

I mean, they do bite the head off of the male mate when they're done 'using' them.
