We visited Holland State Park the weekend after Independence day for a 3 day weekend. We stayed in the Lake Macatawa Campground, not to be confused with Beach Campground. The beach campground is literally at the beach, while the Macatawa campground is about a half mile from the beach.

The Macatawa campground is a mixture of RV sites with mostly 30 amp electric and a few 50 amp sites, but none with water or sewer. There is a nice dump station with flush and fresh water. The east side of the campground is mostly wooded with lots of shade. From what we saw, about 1/2 of the sites are paved, while the rest are sand of gravel. There is a very nice and large shower and restroom facility. Our site was mostly sand, which makes it hard to keep a clean trailer, but we did keep track of a couple large paved sites we'll be booking the next time :)

Check in was quick and efficient. We would definitely recommend booking as far in advance as possible, as this is a very popular park and it was completely full.

The state park beach is about a half mile walk, but there will be plenty of parking space IF you get there early, like before 9:00AM, else you'll be competing with thousands who flock there on nice summer days. On Saturday the line of cars waiting to get into the beach was about a mile long at 2:00PM.

If you have a dog, there is a small dog friendly area directly across for the Lake Macatawa campground. Shandy took a swim, retrieving sticks and had a great time.

We definitely will stay here again.
