Geographical center of the United States - Belle Forche, SD

Our own @dnewton3 suggested to make this one of our stops going through South Dakota on our way to Devil's Tower.

When you look at the map, it's kinda hard to imagine that this is the center of the US, but you've got to account for Alaska. The monument is well done and in a nice city park. There is a visitor's center at the monument, but because of Covid, we didn't go in. If you are passing through, the monument and Belle Force are only 10 miles north of I-90 and it can made as part of your route to Devil's Tower. My take is that it's something you should see once.

we went thru Belle Fourche on our way to Miles City earlier this year. this is just north of Belle Fourche on US 212 and Miles City Mt the standard western border crossing signs full of bullet holes. :)

Yeah, you do see that a lot out west. Growing up in Iowa, I saw that often when I was a kid, but I don't think I've seen a bullet hole in a sign in Iowa for a couple decades.
