We ended up here the day we were supposed to overnight at Devil's Tower and left because of the crowds.

7th Ranch's name is derived from the 7th Calvary. We found the campground on Allstays and with a good rating decided to book at site. I think we got the last one or close to it, as they were full about an hour after we got there. When you check in you get a free ice cream treat, which was a nice touch in the 90F heat of the late afternoon. We didn't realize how close it is to Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, so we got to enjoy that the next morning. The only drawback to the campground is the road leading into it is gravel and a bit wash boarded. We highly recommend this campground for anyone needing a place to camp.

I just saw this thread. I do believe I stayed there, if it is near Little Bighorn, simply because I remember getting a free ice cream..

did you tour the battlefield?

its basically a monument to Custer's stupidity in much the same way The Alamo is to Texas, a shrine to military foolhardiness

Yes we did. The monument is done superbly and I highly recommend a visit.
