We just got back from our trip to Austin. The Duramax averaged 13.1 MPG over 2,300 miles of pulling the trailer. We weigh about 18,000 lbs and it seems we can't buy a tail wind, but I'm happy with 13.1.

What do you all get for fuel economy when towing?

Gross combined weight? about 12,500 est. I know the truck weighs 5950 with me in it. trailer dry is 5580( iirc)

I had an '02 Suburban and I would imagine it would get similar fuel economy pulling the same trailer.

9.5 coming back from the Smokies.about 15,000 lbs. But that was driving 70. If I’m not in a hurry we can get close to 12 at 60 mph

I believe you have a 3.5L Ecoboost in an F-150?

Yes I do. Great on fuel when we are not towing. I always wondered if a HD pickup would be better or worse when towing.
