    Dometic thermostat troubles

The thermostat is in the bedroom and the delta between on and off heat is way too wide and the bedroom gets hot while the rest of the trailer gets warm. It's also more of an on/off switch for the AC. Just seems like a crude piece of equipment. Since we have electric at all of our stops on...

    Dometic thermostat troubles

There's a sensor in the AC plenum that I think is a freeze sensor. Our trailer isn't big enough for 2 temp sensors. 😁

    Dometic thermostat troubles

Our trailer has Dometic A/C, Suburban furnace, and a Dometic digital thermostat. When using heat the degree offset from set temp to heat on to heat off has always been far too wide, you're roasting when it finally turns off. There's one option that reduces the temp delta but something is...

    Pest control

We put cotton balls dripped with peppermint oil in 4 or 5 places in the trailer including in cabinets and the storage bay and it seems to be repelling them. The trailer is in a storage yard on pavement so maybe it's a case of making our trailer less desirable than others nearby. Nothing...

    Water Inlet Connection Repair

Stout fix. Reminds me of the saying- anything worth doing is worth overdoing! (y) After owning this trailer for 2 years I think I have all of the half done things corrected.

    More quality RV construction.

Being a 2017 it's long out of warrantee and it would make no sense to replace the failed slides with the same thing anyway. This trailer doesn't have that many miles on it, GD's rep as being a cut above isn't well deserved from what I've seen with ours.

    More quality RV construction.

Our Grand Design has 2 large drawers, one under the oven and one in the bathroom above the water heater. Both puked the ball bearings after some plastic parts broke in the slide somewhere. The drawer under the oven was the worst so I tackled it first. Of course the slides aren't high quality...

    2021 6.6 gas Chevrolet 2500HD

The HP number is close but the Duramax is around 1000 lb/ft and the gas is 464 lb/ft of torque.

My big tough black lab saved me today

Our 3 yr old female cattle dog protected us from a bag of groceries left under a mailbox this past weekend for that mailman food drive. She didn't know what it was but she knew it shouldn't be there and it looked suspicious

Fifth wheel towing comparison to WD hitch towing?

I had an 07 2500 Duramax and pulled a small 5th wheel and it was just rock solid pulling, you didn't even know a trailer was back there. No rocking horse and no swaying at all. We wanted a bigger trailer but things happened and we got out of camping for a few years, sold the truck and...

Petrified Forest National Park - October 2021

You drive past as you come back into Holbrook right? His heirs and their heirs will still be selling it. Won't go bad.;)

Petrified Forest National Park - October 2021

Did you drive all the way to the south end? We were there 5-6 years ago and I can't remember if it was big RV friendly all the way through. Our Pa friends were there 15 years ago and had stopped along the road between the south entrance and Holbrook looking for wood pieces in the ditch and the...

    Southern Arizona trip report

At the end of October we headed south for a week in southern Arizona checking out a few State Parks. First stop was Catalina SP northwest of Tucson. What a nice campground, sites spaced out, all paved, all facilities well cared for. The Catalina mountains make a great backdrop and there's...

These people are so clueless and dangerous

I watch for janky stuff out on the road too but wasn't keeping score, 10% unsafe it way too much. Wonder why LE doesn't do anything, they have to see this unsafe crap. About the video, I wondered who told them or how they decided that that truck/trailer combo, with or without WD and...

    Correcting more careless RV construction

And this trailer is a 2017 so the Covid excuses aren't valid. I would hope you're not finding things like this in your new unit. I think I'm out of things to make right. Well maybe HD shackles and wet bolts. And the furnace sounds like one of those construction site space heaters but I...

These people are so clueless and dangerous

This video popped up on my YouTube home page. It took about 10 seconds to know exactly how this "accident" happened. Towing a 30' travel trailer with a Frontier with no weight distribution or sway control. At 00:05 you see the hitch as the truck drives over the camera and at 1:34 you can see...

    Correcting more careless RV construction

Earlier this year I read about that foam insert you can put into your AC discharge to direct the cold air into the ductwork better and wondered what it looked like in ours and found a mess in the intake plenum. First off why would the junction box be mounted directly in the air flow blocking...

    Dometic capacitive touch thermostat

Our trailer has this simple Dometic tstat and I've been unhappy with it since day one as well. The temp offset is too wide and there's supposed to be 2 fans speeds for the AC but it only blows on high. IT seems a residential tstat will work if you get one with a backup battery, lots of...
